When an app says it is for community, pricing has to reflect that promise. A sliding pay scale acknowledges that people arrive with different resources and still deserve the same core access.
This is not a discount strategy. It is an operating philosophy: the people who can contribute more help keep the door open for the people who need a softer landing.
